Pint & Ponder: Is Striving A Sin?

Is Striving A Sin?

For this session of Pint & Ponder we'll be grappling with Miroslav Volf's take on ambition in the Christian life. The big question is: Does being a faithful follower of Christ mean we should temper our drive, or can ambition be redeemed and directed toward Godly ends? Expect some great conversation as we wrestle with the tension between "striving for success" and the call to humility and service.

We'll also use Bonnie Kristian's article, "Confessions Of a Striver," as a touchstone to ground the high-level theology in real-world experience. Bring your thoughts on your own ambition—the good, the bad, and the sometimes ugly—and let's see how we can make our aspirations align with the Kingdom. Use the button below to sign up and RSVP.

Philosophy. Technology.Theology..

These are just some of the many complex topics of our time. They can be confusing, frustrating, or even wearying. Which is why it’s necessary on the journey of faith and life to spend time being thoughtful about these subjects alongside fellow travelers.

Without intentional, respectful, and thoughtful conversation around deeper issues in our society we believe that we do ourselves, and others, a disservice in our modern context. Without understanding and bridge building we are simply left with chasms between different perspectives and demographics.

Pint & Ponder is a safe and open monthly space to engage in meaningful and intentional conversation and dialogue around Theological, philosophy, and modern issues. Our conversations are topical, and are held in a moderated format around some good food and drinks at a local establishment. We welcome folks to engage in conversation or simply sit and listen.

We approach these issues from a Christian perspective and worldview, but welcome people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and persuasions to join us in this endeavor.
